Re: Fisher-price motor
Mating a FP to a banebots gearbox doesn't *really* require machining.
First, you must break/pull off the stock FP pinion and press on the appropriate banebots one. In some cases, you must then shorten the FP output shaft.
From this point, it will mount stock to a banebots gearbox, but I would recommend a little bit of "machining" to improve them.
The motors themselves in the older gearboxes were mounted with terrible quality screws (and philips heads at that), I'd recommend replacing them with some good socket heads. In my experiences, the counterbore usually doesn't fit socket heads, so the hole must be drilled larger.
I haven't seen the inside of the new gearboxes, but they outside clearly shows the same terrible quality screws that I've grown to loathe. It's really interesting to me that they made such substantial changes to the quality, but didn't do something as simple as using decent fasteners.
EDIT: on second reading, they say socketheads are used for mounting the motor. But the screws holding the gearbox together are still not decent hex based ones.
