The reason we didn't do shooter is because it could be inaccurate and could bounce off one of the poles and land on the floor.

That's true. BUT, reducing the inaccuracies through design modifications, testing, and lots of practice can surely help.
As I recall in Aim High, there were a lot of shooters highly effective, even though they missed some shots here and there, or a lot at times.
