Issue with debugging/running code on cRio

Hey. I don't know what is going on, I think. After the first and only download of the simple robot code, and the after following reboot, the jaguars started blinking, and the DS stated the whole "no code" nonsense. It has been that way sense. So after reading the directions again, and again, than watching the video, than reading the the manual again, I decided that I was following procedure. I can build the code, connect to the crio, see what processes are running, the whole 9 yards. But, the robot still doesn't run the code. After many fruitless attempts at trying to load the program to RAM, debugging, swearing, more swearing, 5 am phone calls saying that you found the solution, only for it to be wrong, I decided that someone else might/will have more knowledge than me. So please, any help would be adpreciated. I've been up for, x many days trying to fix this, among other things, so I am sure that someone has a better mental capacity/experience than me right now. Again, thanks for the help.

Re: Issue with debugging/running code on cRio

My team ran across the same error you did at the beginning of the build season. The code would build in WindRiver, upload to the cRIO, and the DS would still read "No Code." I know our team was able to fix this issue, but I cannot remember what we did (Sorry). Make sure you have the updated version of LabVIEW or WindRiver and have flashed the cRIO with the correct firmware.

Also, try bypassing the wireless router/radio and plug port 1 on cRIO directly into port 1 on the DS and the computer to port 2 on the DS. There could be a chance that the radios are dropping packets, but its not likely.

I will ask around my team to see if they have any ideas or remember what we did.

Re: Issue with debugging/running code on cRio

we have been using the cRio with wind river successfully.

first thing i would do is download the latest cRio update and re-image the Rio for wind river just to make sure it doesn't think your using labview.

then check and make sure your downloading the right file from wind river by going to Window->properties (or something close to that) click on the FIRST downloader options and check the team number and make sure your pointing to the correct .out file(i have gotten the same error your getting by downloading the wrong file)

and remember you have to un-deploy -> download -> and then reboot the cRio before the downloaded code will run.

also make sure you set your team number right on the driver station and have all the correct ip's on the gaming adapter (radio), rougher, cRio and the computer you are using is not in conflict with any of them.

Tip:
it is more convenient to use the debug feature so the code will run without a reboot.

good luck,

Re: Issue with debugging/running code on cRio

Well, I feel a little stupid. The firmware, needed to be uploaded not ounce, not twice, not thrice, but four times was a charm. The code uploading, worked, awesome. I guess that when it says that it has finished uploading, it really means don't touch it for another 10 minutes, its actually doing something.

Re: Issue with debugging/running code on cRio

One thing that really helped us is using an RS-232 connection to the cRio. You can watch everything downloading, rebooting and happening. I would recommend that if anyone is having issues, to at least get a window into what is going on down at the cRio level.
