LAST MINUTE Pneumatic Question

Hey a few hours before shipping...

Does anyone know of a way to wire the Double Solenoid
Valve to ONE Spike Relay?
A quick answer would be much appreciated...
:-)

If you look in the manual, it talks about using the diodes(also included in the kit) to write the double solenoid in such a way that you can use a single relay...OR, you could most likely(guessing here now) use the method that's in the manual for connecting two one-way items to a single relay...don't remember exactly where it is, but take a look...

and failed... heh. something went wrong somewhere and we started smelling something funny.

so we just took a spike from last year and used that one. it's the easiest solution.

Chris

I recomend that you not use the diodes, but connect one wire from each solenoid to ground and the other wire from each solenoid to a output on the spike. This way the leds will both work on the valve and you don't have to fool with the diodes.

Mr Bill

The setup with the diodes has two benefits. One, you can run just two wires from the spike to the valve and still operate both solenoids. Also, the diode setup prevents the possibility of activating both solenoids at the same time, with unpredictable results. However, most likely your valves won't be located far from the spike, so running three or four wires wouldn't be a problem; and activating both solenoids simultaneously can be avoided with careful programming.

Also, if you do connect the valve without the diodes, make sure you connect the correct leads to the relay. This depends on the type of spikes you have. If I recall correctly, you connect the red leads if you are using a blue spike, and the black leads if you are using a red spike.
