Yes, but will the plate work?

In Reply to: Team 213 Dirty Bird Pictures Posted by Dean Joyal on 2/20/2001 5:40 PM EST: I took a look at your pictures and i noticed something important: when you use your plate to raise the bridge, there is a space between the bottom lip and the floor into which your plate fits in order to raise the bridge. In the competitions, from what I understand, there will be no space between the floor and the lip, and it will be carpteted (I asked this question before because we were planning on doing the same thing). So, you might want to think of alternatives or decide whether it will work or not. Good luck, and I hope your problem gets solved (if it's a valid problem at all). |

the plate will probably work

Posted by Eric Kubo on 2/21/2001 12:16 AM EST: At kick off, when the bridge is down on one side, it clearly shows that there is NO space between the bridge and the ground. So, it is a valid problem. But it doesn't seem like a really big problem. Because, you have to remember that there are the handles on the side of the bridge the plate can go under. And one you raise the bridge once, you can place the plate under the bridge so that when it come down the plate will be comfortably sitting under the bridge waiting to lift up again. And if you watched the Wildstang video, you can see that they have no problem sliding a plate under the bridge lip. My guess is the plate is thin enough and pushed against the carpet so much that it can slide under the steel lip easily. So, this problem points to a different aspect of how your robot will work. The question is not whether it will work or not, but how smoothly can your robot perform its task during a game and how good of a flow your robot have during the match. |
