Re: moving in auto
Goodness, not moving is essentially a death knell, as your opponent will have a full 20 seconds to pop balls into your trailer. Our best attempt was all 20 balls tossed in 20 seconds, most went in, not easy to miss.

Re: moving in auto
My team is implementing a "trailer rescue" autonomous mode. At 0.06 g acceleration, it will take 5.9 seconds to cross the field and bump the lonely trailer out of range of the shooter (impact speed is 11 feet per second), toward a friendly corner.

Re: moving in auto
Our team is planning on programming our robot with Labview this year, however we have a number of students that would much prefer to be using C++. After the robot ships our coding team will be dividing up between those continuing to work on the turret code in Labview (we plan on withholding the turret) and those students who wish to explore the C++ environment.
In addition to attempting to replicate the function of our Labview code in C++ we also plan to have these students become familiar with the coding environment and prepare various auto modes that we can use to assist teams that do not have an autonomous mode. For those wondering, we are not planning on simply copying the code into their program or anything like that, we will make sure they are learning something at the same time and adaptations will likely have to be made to account for specific robot configurations anyway. We feel that at a regional with a disproportionate amount of rookies teams, both alliance partners having a working autonomous mode could be the deciding factor in a significant number of matches. |
