Re: Another build day lost

2nd day for us. School activities were cancelled yesterday afternoon and there was no school today.

We're compensating by adding at least 1 more day to the schedule; too many more days and we won't have a day off in between now and ship date.

Re: Another build day lost

For living in Minnesota, we have actually never had any days of school canceled (well, at least not during the build season. One or two in the last three years otherwise). This is due in part to our proximity to St. Paul.

Re: Another build day lost

Where is the "I live where the sun never shines but sometimes it's foggy" option? We had one terrible cold spell where it got down to -4C for a week, but no snow out of it. We've been meeting a lot so far, so I'm taking this weekend as a vacation and going south to Germany where I might find some of the elusive snow.

Re: Another build day lost

Our build was cancelled today due to inclement weather. Our build space is separate from any particular school, however, so we sometimes have builds for those who can attend, mainly with specific build work in mind, on snow days.

Surprisingly, we have been above 0C all of three days this build season. We only canceled one build session, but that was rough since we can only build Mon, Fri, Sat.

Re: Another build day lost

No snow days this year...yet. We don't build at our school so I don't even think a snow day is possible. We have had cancelled meetings because we are waiting for parts (like today) and don't have much else to do. I wish Fed Ex was faster UPS too.

Re: Another build day lost

Our team doesnt work at school, so when school is cancelled we can work all day. In December we had 14" one day, then the net day we got 6", and we got a few after that. Living in Milwaukee we get more snow than most places because we get the lake effect snow from lake Michigan.

Re: Another build day lost

Well yesterday and today the schools were closed. . we have almost 1/8in of ice on the road, and my car door was frozen shut this morning. First time we have ever missed 1 day let alone 2. Just hope it doesn't get too much colder our here . . I don't think I could take low teens.

( yes I do realize my cold stories are like telling Iraq vets about how awful it was when I got a splinter at the fair this last summer)

We've lost one, but our school (Lafayette School Corporation) was the only one in the area to be open today, I'm pretty sure the robotics kids were the only happy ones.

Re: Another build day lost

We have a serious weather event here in north AR. Major ice storm and power outages since Monday. They are saying it could be up to 3 weeks before all the power is restored. The Baxter plant is shut down and we have no power at our build site either. We we're putting wheel modules together by candlelight last night! We are beside ourselves with what will happen with the robot but it is such a disaster for our entire area that it can't even matter right now.

Re: Another build day lost

1 day for snow. 2 for cold temperatures (-30*F and -20*F consecutively). It's back to about 15*F so I'm back down to a sweatshirt during the day.

Our 3 days off were during week 2. We've since made them up by working longer weekends and MLK day.

Wow! We will be keeping the people of Arkansas in our thoughts! If you need, just pack the bot and team up and head up north to Rochester. It just snows here. And snows and snows... but we have POWER!!!

First time this season, after school activities are cancelled tonight. But leadership, programming, and awards sub-teams are meeting off-site anyway. And it is the middle of mid-terms so many of the students can use a night off to study anyway.
