Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hello,

As a FIRST team member, you can access web-based training for Pro/E from the following link - http://first.ptculms.com.

You will need to regsiter for the site.

Once registered, you can choose the online courses link on the left hand menu and then choose the desired course.

WE have courses on modeling, detailing, assemblies and mechanism.

Hope that helps.

Mark

Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hi Murthy,

You can access the free Pro/E seat for you and your team from Projectlink. This is the web collaboration portal that each team can use. This will allow you to manage your data online, enabling all team members to have access to the latest and greatest data via the web.

To regsiter for the project, click www.ptc.com/go/frcregistration

Thanks,
Mark

Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your suggestions. Can you tell me are there any means by which i can convert my assembled model into mechanism?
Are both mechanism and animation in pro-e same?

Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hi Murthy,

The methods of creating a mechanism joint is a combination of static constraints. When an assembling a component with static constraints you typically need to define three constraints to make it full constrained. However if you only applied two, you can convert that to a mechanism constraint.

For example, when you assembly with a insert constraint and a mate constraint, you can convert that to a pin joint (mechanism constraint). A pin joint is defined by axis of alignment (insert) and translation plane (mate). You do not have to delete and create over again. In the dashboard for the assembly, there is an icon to convert from static to mechanism or vice versa.

I have accepted you into the PTC U training at http://first.ptculms.com.

Take a look at the mechanism course.

Thanks,
Mark

Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hi Murthy,

What dimensions were you refering to?

Assembly component dimensions....for placement offeset or something like that? Or do you mean component feature dimension modification?

Thanks,
MArk

Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hi Murthy,

There are two ways to do this.

While in Assembly, you can select the component in the model tree and click the Right Mouse Button and choose activate. This will activate the part as if you where working on it by itself. You can add new features and edit existing features as you do in part mode. Give that a try. The nice thing about doing this in the assembly level is you can see how things interact with one another when making a change. When you are finished, click the assembly from the model tree and activate it via the right mouse button option.

Otherwise, select the component form the model tree and click the right mouse button and select Open. This will open the part in a new window.

Hope that helps.
Mark

Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hi Mark,
I would like to change the length dimensions of the c-channel imported from the CAD FRC library of parts. But when I try to right click the c-channel, no sketch feature or extrusion feature of c-channel appears in the model tree.

So i couldn't edit the sketch or extrusion length to change the length of the channel.Kindly let me know how to modify it.

thanks and regards,
Murthy

Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hi Murthy,

Did you download the parts from www.ptc.com/go/firstkop? Or did you download it form the www.firstcadlibrary.com?

If you downloaded it from the firstcadlibrary.com, the files are not native Pro/E. You would not be able to modify the dimensions.

I suggest you grab the same model from the ptc.com site....as they are native Pro/E models.

let me know which ones you grabbed and we can discuss the steps to edit.

Smile Re: PRO-E TUTORIALS

Hello Mark,
I think grabbed the parts from firstcadlibrary.com.But I'm almost done with the model now. However I'm terrible need of your help in conducting dynamic analysis which are described as follows:

(1) to determine the velocity at which if the robot hits an object it can tip off
(2) to check the displacement of the robot when certain amount of force is applied to the robot on its structure

I tried several online resources to find this but I could get any lead on this.
Can you clearly tell me how to conduct this. Also I think this portion of analysis was not available in the online classes.

Waiting for your support,

Thanks and regards,
Murthy
