Re: compressor help

I assume that you're actually using a Spike to drive the compressor since it's running?

Do you have any leaks in your system such that the pressure can't get to 120PSI (which is the pressure at which the Nason pressure switch changes state)? Is the compressor running even when the robot is "disabled" (as identified via the screen on the DS)?

Re: compressor help

no the compressor does not run in the disabled state. The pressure does not go above 80 psi and the compressor just continues to run....Help...

Re: compressor help

It looks like you have a leak. The compressor will only shut off when the pressure switch changes state. That only happens when the pressure gets to 120 PSI.

You can mix some soap and water and put a little on each fitting, If you get bubbles, there is a leak.

Re: compressor help

Solo,
What pressure is indicated on the pressure guage attached to the regulator? As a test, you can clamp the hose feeding the regulator and see if the system pressure will rise to 120 PSI and turn off the compressor. If system pressure rises to 120 PSI (it should happen pretty quick) then you will know that the leak is downstream of your clamp. If it still does not reach 120 PSI then you know the leak is somewhere between the compressor and the clamp.

Re: compressor help

It's possible your regulator is plumbed backwards too.
That would regulate the pressure so it could never reach 120psi.
80psi sounds suspiciously like a regulated limit for those of you who run into something like this where it stops right at a particular value every time.

The back of the regulator is marked where the line from the compressor must be attached. It can't go just anywhere.

Re: compressor help

i was able to get it working i had the pressure regulator the wrong way. Is there a way to get the pressure to stop at a different value, say like 140 psi. NOw it stops at 120 phi but when i fire the piston once it goes to like seventy. HELP

Re: compressor help

We're limited to 120psi by the rules (so we don't risk shrapnel ), so you can't go any higher.

What you can do is add air storage tanks (up to 4 by the rules), and your high pressure won't drop so drastically each time you use it.

You do need to consider managing your air supply and how fast and how often you can use those pistons, including precharging your pneumatics storage just before going on the field to play in a match.

No. If you modify the system for more than 120 psi, the inspectors at your event will prevent you from competing. Moreover, it is a safety risk.

To minimize pressure loss, use accumulators to store a larger volume of compressed air. I very strongly suggest that you read the Pneumatics Manual and section 8.3.9 of this years rules before proceeding any further with your development.

Regards,

Mike

Re: compressor help

yes like others said the compressor is only limited in competion to 120 psi and you will not be able to compete if over 120 psi
