Detecting the top of the trailers

All the trailers in the competitions will have pink and green stripes on the top of the trailers. Will the camera's code allow for a slight change in shade for detecting these, or will we need to get the exact shade? If we must the get the exact shade, where can we get the stickers that have these shades of green and pink?

Thank you for your help and time,

Comatose

I think you missed a part in the kit of parts if I understand your question. There is one sheet of the green and one sheet of the pink fabric which should be the exact shade that is used at regionals, which should be sufficient for your testing needs.

Re: Detecting the top of the trailers

Additionally, you can and should allow for a variation in shade due to lighting. If you go to the documentation for the control system on usfirst.org, you can find fully-functional sample code for camera tracking.

Re: Detecting the top of the trailers

Ah, well that would work :| . I feel silly. Now that that's out of the way, compared to the video that explained the game, these sheets seem larger than those depicted in the video. Do we know the dimensions of the green and pink sheets on the trailer?

Thanks,

Comatose

Re: Detecting the top of the trailers

From drawing GE-09028 in the game specific drawings zip file on FIRST's website, each color appears to be 12 inches high and wrap all the way around the vision target.

Re: Detecting the top of the trailers

The sheets in the Kit are actually slightly smaller than is required, but are enough to make one side of the trailer appear on the camera. (The kit sheets are 12x12, the actual target is a 12" height 8" diameter cylinder, so would require a 12"x~25" sheet.) I'm sure FIRST lists a supplier somewhere in the manual.
