Question Penalty for having balls in robot?

Do you get a penalty for having balls in or on your robot when the game ends?We heard from our sister team 1319 FLASH that you do get a penalty for having them in or on your robot. Does anyone know for sure?

No such penalty exists, although it may be a good idea to make a last ditch all out scoring attempt in the last few seconds.

No there is no rule specifically prohibiting having balls in your possession at the end of the match. Maybe they got confused with the multiple empty cell rule.

That being said, depending on your design or how the match is going it might be wise to offload any balls you have at the end of the match.

Re: Penalty for having balls in robot?

The closest thing I can think of is you have to be able to remove the orbit balls when the robot is turned off.

Yes, if you can't quickly remove the balls while the robot is unpowered, the field reset crew will give you a warning, and then they'll talk to the refs, who will probably not allow you to compete again until the problem is fixed to their satisfaction.

The only rule I can think of that has anything near the same sort of plot is the rule stating that you cannot hold 2 or more empty cells any time during the match.

Re: Penalty for having balls in robot?

You can have balls in your robot when the game ends you just have to be able to remove them without powering up the robot.

Re: Penalty for having balls in robot?

There is currently no rule against having balls in the robot, however; you will need to be able to remove them from the robot while they are off after the game.
