EXTRA STRUT ADDED TO RAMP AT HARTFORD!!!!!

Posted by Jason Leslie at 03/01/2001 7:33 PM EST

Other on team #157, Aztechs, from Assabet Valley RTHS Alumni (Class of 1998) and .

It has come to my attention through team #157's website that for some reason there has been an extra strut added to the ramp at the UTC Hartford Regional.

Has any other teams found this at there regional?

As of the last update on there website team #157 said that they have brought this matter to the officials and are waiting for there decision (as this strut hinders one of there robots functions and maybe it will yours too.)

I just thought that I would pass this information along to the other teams.

Good luck to all teams and remember to have fun!

Jay

I was at KSC and saw the ramp up close and personal and it looks like the ramp spec without any surprises. There is as you know (maybe some don't) two pipe fittings on each side (vertical face where kickplate is)of the ramp that would allow for some type of side rails to be attached to the ramp. The word is these are for a surprise at nationals where the ramp/game may be slightly modified.

We noticed the extra support (not that it hindered our ability).. and also 157 discussing it with judges.. and they ARE removing it for the rest of the competition... only fair since it wasn't on any of the many blueprints...

Another thing.. there's a strip of "caution" tape on the edge of the aluminum strip on the bridge.. we've also asked FIRST to remove this because we have an optical sensor we use to judge whether the edge of our robot is too close to the bridge... FIRST seemed co-operative (because this also wasn't noted on any prints) and we'll see tomorrow morning if it's been removed...

I think FIRST did a good job.. and the day ran well.. 'cept for.. well.. the lack of heat!!

There was plenty of heat in the pits at Kennedy Space Center. FIRST must have brought it all here

For those north of GA.... PLEASE bring sunscreen to Florida competitions. I saw many students in the stands here at KSC baked a crimson red. Sun poisoning is NOT FUN.

The Sun IS hotter here!

This boring emergency post was brought to you by team ComBBAT, owner/operators of "THAT".
