Re: Autonomous Mode

I regret that I cannot help, but I just wanted to publicly commend you for doing something to ensure your team isn't a sitting duck during autonomous - parked for 20 seconds right in front of an opposing player who can easily toss balls into your trailer. Just moving forward 10 feet and spinning in circles is good enough.

You might want to also look at the default code, since in past years it contained a spot for autonomous code, and I'd be surprised if this year's did not. Just pop a simple "pulse all motors for 1/2 second" command in there for testing. And be safe!

Re: Autonomous Mode

The default projects both contain an Autonomous Independent VI which by default does nothing. If you open the VI and look at the code, it is simply commented out. Check the motor assignments and such, put on blocks and other reasonable safety measures, and enable the code either by changing the constant or by right-clicking and removing the case all together. I think you will likely be able to modify this default code to get something going. If not, I believe the LVMastery tutorial goes over both frameworks. Even if the autonomous isn't covered in detail, it will be worth the time spent.

Re: Autonomous Mode

I'm new to programming too, and was also wondering about the autonomous mode... This video is helping me a bit, maybe you'll get some use out of it too.

You might want to watch the previous video entries, but this is the one about autonomous.

Good luck!

Hate to be super picky but you guys have confused some players. According to the manual:

Re: Autonomous Mode

he's just taking into account the delay in time between the end of the autonomous period and the time the drivers step up and actually start driving.

Wink Re: Autonomous Mode

See your point. Just wanted to make sure they weren't thinking autonomous had been changed to 20 seconds...we all know how heated some debates can get...

Unhappy Re: Autonomous Mode

yea... i definitely know how heated debates can get. That's why i got my red dots. on one thread i was discussing whether it was possible to modify the wheels legally through "testing" so it'd be normal wear and tear and then everyone thought i was actually going to do it so they started giving me bad rep. got a good debate out of it though which is what i wanted. then of course they gave me more bad rep when i told them we weren't doing it, via private messages since they closed the thread before i could post it, for wasting their time.
