Don't worry hannah, some people on other teams still know what the real name for them is.

: I'd have to agree that bar-locks (wireties for all nonGaelforce readers) would be the most efficient and leagal method for keeping ninny coaches in place... but duck tape as a silencer may be appropriate.
: WARNING: Do not tighten bar-locks to much or they may cause accidental loss of limbs... or they might just turn blue!

Hey, at least your team probably doesnt look at you strange because youre the ONLY ONE that calls them that...and all because I hang out with other teams too much

Busy person: "Hey, hand me that wire tie over there."
Me: "What?"
Busy person: "The wire tie! Right next to your hand!!!"
Me: "Ohhh, the bar-lok. sure."
(Silence as Busy person just kind-of stares at me and shakes their head)

Now, if you will only say the name "zip tie", just like what we all do in the west coast...

That way, at least the people won't look at you all weird. Even if they do, you can just say, "It's what we call them over at west coast" and you will be all right and accepted by the people as a sane person again.

calling them bar-locks is more of an ideal... a way of life than an actual name... Now go waste a day trying to figure that statement out.

I can understand about the human players. The coach knows what HIS/HER human player can do, and so will trust him/her more than another human player. I know this from experience, and I trust myself more than someone I've known for about two minutes (no offense). During our matches, the human player was picked mostly by height and how much practice/experience they have had.

: some even insist like crazy that their human player is better than everyone elses....

when we went out in a match.. i told our partners flat out what we could and couldn't do, and in legitimate times... i found that more often than not, other coaches were telling, less lies, but more what they 'wished' their robot could do. Fact is, yeah you sometimes try to build something into your robot and it doesn't work.. and you have to admit to it...

as I told my team and will always say... the best strength you can have, for strategy and controlling, is knowing your own weakness and being willing to admit them...

So I had this problem a lot this weekend.. where do you draw the line? You've seen people do something, you have them do it.. the don't... You've seen people try.. but no one else in the match can do it.. do you let them? It's a hard decision to make.. and it's gotta be agreed upon fully by 4 teams who all wanna either do it all or just get it done...

: Question 3/4/01: After viewing some of the happenings in the regionals, what is the thing that suprises you the most?

Two things came to my mind from this weekend...

Even though when the game was announced we thought it was -all- love and peace, we still cheered as loud as ever and still bit our nails in suspense even though only one alliance was out there at once.

The other thing that came to mind was that we could get Air off that ramp... wow... that i never expected... I wish i had some video of that... i'm definitely taking a camera to the next regional so i can preserve the moment if it happens again...

Even though I couldn't be there, the most surprising thing for me, personally, is that Team 57 actually won. Yup. I'm expecting the world to end shortly, but it's currently not cooperating, so I guess we'll have to try to put up a repeat performance at Lone Star. It's hard having a PBS documentary made about your team. It means now the pressure is on to have a repeat at the next regional.
Anyways, on another note, I was really surprised to find myself cheering my team on. Especially cause I was still here in Texas watching the video stream. I didn't really expect that to happen at all.
