Rookie Team needs to borrow a FIRST goal for CDI contest

Hi!

We have an urgent need to borrow one or two 2001 FIRST competition goals for the CDI contest.

I'm with Huron High School in Ann Arbor, MI. We've just started up FIRST Team 830 <Hooray!>, and are still looking for a sponsor.

Along with some generous financial assistance from Team 66 (thanks guys!), our first action was to scrape up enough cash to enter the CDI contest.

However, the CDI contest uses the 2001 FIRST competition 7' rolling goals, which of course we don't HAVE! We're one of only two rookie teams in the contest. This puts us at a serious disadvantage, because virtually everyone else already has a set of goals on hand.

Could we **PLEASE** borrow one or two goals from some team(s) in the SE MI area NOT in the CDI (or no longer using them), so we can practice? We'll be happy to pick up and return them to you, unmodified, after the CDI.

If so, please contact me ASAP. We're already into week 2 of the six week contest now, and still haven't been able to locate a goal to have in front of us for our robot design phase.

Thanks!
- Keith McClary, Huron High Team 830

I'd love to help, but we disassembled our goals at the end of last year. They just took up too much space, and we were moving to a new facility. Try looking at the FIRST team list for teams in the MI area. A lot of them have websites and e-mail addresses for direct contact.

I know G-Force has two goals you could most likely use, but they are in Northeast Indiana. If you cannot find any other goals, and are willing to travel a little bit I am sure you could work something out. Just contact Al Thorn at al.thorn@carrier.utc.com or Joel Boucher at joeltboucher@hotmail.com if you are interested and explain your situation.

Still looking

Thanks, Eric & Jeff.
Jeff: We're HOPING to find a team in SE MI area that can lend us one. We are asking all of the local teams but so far haven't gotten a positive response. That's why I'm broadcasting. We're getting DESPERATE!

Eric: Thanks for the pointer to the NE Indiana team, but even if I did persue them, that is several hundred miles away if it does work out (plus that far to return it). With over 60 teams in MI alone, I was praying ONE of them can help us before we have to go that far, but we'll do it if necessary!

To all: We're STILL looking for a 7' tall 2001 FIRST rolling goal to borrow (hopefully from a team less than 100-150 miles of Ann Arbor, MI, if at all possible), so we can prepare for participation in the CDI, our first contest. CDI requires the use of this year's goals, and we don't have one. Ann Arbor is about 30 miles west of Detroit, MI.

Can **ANY** team out there that is reasonably close help us???

Team 535 to the rescue

We have a goal you can borrow!
I can meet you in Waterville, OH on Friday (10/19) at around 6:00 pm (Ohio time). There is a gas station in Waterville. It is on the corner of the only stop light in town.
If this will work, e-mail me at wayne.doenges@carrier.utc.com

Thanks to All!

We're all set now! Via this forum & thread, many teams have contacted us offering goals, so we won't be needing to drive out of state to find one. But THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH for the offers!!! We REALLY appreciate the help!

In addition to the postings here, Teams 470 (Ypsilanti) and Team 123 (Hamtramck) also responded by direct email and phone, offering goals. Thank you, Scott and John!

We've now got a goal in hand, and are ready to get down and dirty working on our machine! <grin>
(So Wayne, you can go home now from that gas station in Waterville, but thanks anyway... ;-)

You guys are all GREAT! The willingness of teams to support each other here is fabulous. We'd also like to thank Chief Delphi 47 for creating this forum so we can all work together and solve problems like this so quickly and easily.
