Re: Crate footprint
The footprint and height restrictions are required by the shipper so the crates can be easily handled and loaded into a shipping trailer. Do not exceed these dimensions with your crate, or the shipper can refuse to take your crate. This could be disastrous to your team on Tuesday. You don't have to make it 4 x 4 - it can be smaller.
