Battery Voltage Monitoring
We have not been able to get the DS battery voltage monitoring working. Currently it displays 0.00 V. We only have the digital sidecar module installed on the cRIO. Any idea what we have to do?
Thanks! |

Re: Battery Voltage Monitoring
You need to have an NI 9201 analog input module in slot 1 with an attached Analog Breakout module. The Breakout module must be powered from a 20A breaker on the PD (refer to the rules and Power Distribution Diagram, TRIPLE CHECK THE POLARITY BEFORE POWERING IT UP) and you must have a battery monitor jumper installed across the outer 2 pins of the Analog Breakout's 3-pin battery monitor header.
Make that QUADRUPLE CHECK the polarity of power to the Analog Breakout. An EXCELLENT way to test this is to build the power and first plug it into a spare Digital Sidecar or Solenoid Breakout to confirm polarity. The DSC and Solenoid Breakout both include reverse power protection whereas the Analog Breakout will simply go up in smoke when power is applied backwards. If the power cable successfully powers the DSC or Solenoid Breakout (ie all power LEDs are lit), then it's OK to plug it into the Analog Breakout. Rus |
