Motor Part Numbers?
Posted by Michael Betts at 03/13/2001 10:11 AM EST
Engineer on team #177, Bobcat Robotics, from South Windsor High School and International Fuel Cells. Has anyone ever posted manufacturer's part numbers for window and seat motors? I thought that Dr. J had done so but my searches are coming up empty. Can anyone provide those part numbers or what vehicle they are out of? Mike |

From 2000 Competition Team Update #7: If you are interested in purchasing additional window motors contact your local GM parts dealer. The window motors are for a 1994-1997 Oldsmobile Cutlas Supreme for the rear door only, part number 12362292 or 12362293. Mike |

WRONG -- Don't use this...

In Reply to: Re: Seat Motor P/N Posted by Michael Betts on 03/13/2001 5:11 PM EST: This motor is very like the motor we used this year, but not the same. Sorry. That motor went out of service and I had to find another that was still in production. The only real difference is that the new motors have the proper face width for use with the tape drive units, unlike the motor I was able to get for the 200 competition. Sorry for the confusion. But... beggars can't be choosers. As it was, Valeo almost missed the drop dead date that FIRST had for getting them in the kit. While 13,000 motors seems like a lot for you and me, it is peanuts to Valeo, and no matter how often I called them, they didn't really respond. Ah well. Such it the life of FIRST beggars. It seems that if a supplier had to choose between shutting down a billion dollar car plant and making a few FIRSTers unhappy, they choose to risk the rath of the FIRSTers. Bottom line: I personally wrote the P.O. for the window motors that are in this year's kit. They are definitely from a current production GM Savannah Van. Joe J. |

Part number v. Service Part Number
Posted by Joe Johnson at 03/13/2001 5:17 PM EST
Engineer on team #47, Chief Delphi, from Pontiac Central High School and Delphi Automotive Systems. In Reply to: Re: Seat Motor P/N Posted by P.J. Baker on 03/13/2001 4:26 PM EST: The part numbers I know (and Mike C knows too by the way) are internal part numbers. For reasons that are not clear to me, they are not the part number that service parts uses. He is what I know about the motors in the kit: Window motors: Used on current production GM Savannah (GM's big van) Seat motors: Used on many GM vehicles including the GMC Safari and Chevy Astro van (GM's mid-size van) Globe motors: Used on several GM 4WD-2WD shift actuator including the Tahoe & Jimmy/Blazer Power Sliding Door Motor: Not a current production motor -- used to be used on GM mini-vans -- not too old, but not the current model. This is the trickiest motor to find because the Taigene motor was a "bolt in" replacement for the Bosch and several models made so called running changes to the Taigene motor. Also, the motor is not available as a service part you have to buy the entire cable assembly. I recommend that you find a vehicle in a junkyard and try to get the part that way. Joe J. |
