[FTC]: Georgia FTC Championship

Congratulations to all 28 teams for successfully competing and succeeding in yesterday's Georgia FTC Championship. It was wild and fun day and ran a little long because we wanted to get in a full 8-team alliance selection in. We did and it was well worth it. We had some very exciting matches. Here are the results of the competition.

Motivate Award - Team #679 - RoboRaiders (Riverwood HS; Sandy Springs, GA)
Connect Award - Team #560 - RoboStallions (TEACH HS; Alpharetta, GA)
Innovate Award - Team #2908 - Raising Corn to the Power of 3 (Huntland, TN)
PTC Design Award - Team #2981 - GSMST Echo (Gwinnett School of Math Science and Technology; Duluth, GA)
Think Award - Team #1002 - CircuitRunners (Wheeler HS; Marietta, GA)

Competition Finalists
Team #2961 - Mecha-C'thulu (Community Team; Dunwoody, GA)
Team #1848 - SOUP (Georgia Robotics Alliance; Marietta, GA)
Team #675 - GSMST Alpha (Gwinnett School of Math Science and Technology; Duluth, GA)

Competition Champions
Team #2981 - GSMST Echo (Gwinnett School of Math Science and Technology; Duluth, GA)
Team #710 - Twisted Metal/Salty Dogs (Cherokee Christian HS; Woodstock GA)
Team #3325 - Clarke Central (Clarke Central HS; Athens, GA)

Inspire Award - Team #710 - Twisted Metal/Salty Dogs (Cherokee Christian HS; Woodstock GA)

A very big thank you to all my volunteers that kept things on schedule and moving throughout the day and to my wonderful planning committee and organizers: Mary Roberts (Judge Advisor), Ray Spurlin (Head Referee), Robert May (Lead FTA), Kathleen Simpson (Volunteer Coordinator), and Steve Roberts (A/V lead and person that does it all without being asked).

It was a great tournament, a great game, and a great season. Good luck to all the teams at Championships - I'll see you there.

Re: [FTC]: Georgia FTC Championship

Might I add, all teams deserve those awards, but team 2908 is the most deserving of the innovate award. Those treads they made were simply amazing.

Re: [FTC]: Georgia FTC Championship

Mr. Roboto's team aged-out. They registered the team and got a kit for experience, but the eligible students are members of Team SOUP from the Georgia Robotics Alliance #1848 and Tony is a mentor on that team.

SOUP finished in second place and was chosen by the 1st seeded team.

Re: [FTC]: Georgia FTC Championship

Here's a picture of their bot. Their team name is "Raising Corn to the Power of 3" and they are some home-schoolers from a small town about an hour away from Chattanooga in Tennessee. They got their inspiration for their bot from their corn harvesters on their farm. They also grew up in the FLL program.

The conveyor belt is made up of 3 and 5 hole technic beams and axles running between them - all legal parts from the 9797 kit.

Re: [FTC]: Georgia FTC Championship

My mentor took 300 pictures. It's taking some time for him to sort through the ones we don't need and upload them. .

Mr. Roboto was not present and I also did not see SHIRT, nor 3 Brothers and Wesley. All 3 were very powerful teams, and I hope to see them next year.

Re: [FTC]: Georgia FTC Championship

See my earlier post about Mr. Roboto. SHIRT registered, but then backed out because they never got their bot finished. 3 Brothers and Wesley renamed their team to Twisted Metal/Salty Dogs (Team #710) and won the Inspire Award for the second year in a row.
