Programing+encoders =?

We are trying to program our robot for autonomous period on the ftc bot, HOWEVER the encoders and by extension our motors wont work. How did you do it? Please respond ASAP

its really hard to tell what the problem could be unless we get a description of the encoder application and a post of the code in question but one thing that originally gave our team some grief was that different encoders will give you different values. ex. one revolution on our old encoders was 1000 counts while on the new ones one revolution was only 250
