FIRSTcast: Season 4 Episode 12 - Pin Cushions

Sorry the live part didn't pan out today. Talkshoe was having same audio issues that were beyond our control. We got a normal show recorded for you and out pretty quickly though...

A bunch of events have happened since our last show. We’ve got Madison Krass from team 488, Sean Lavery of team 1712, Pat McCarthy alumni of 67, a team-less Michele Celio, Greg Needel of team 2775 and Jeff Rodriguez of team 173.
We’re talking about Rochester, Oregon, Silicon Valley, Michigan events and Florida. What strategies worked well? How can you counter them? Is scoring in autonomous really beneficial?
Those of us outside of Michigan want to know what the feel of a district event is. Pat has got some pictures to share to illustrate the atmosphere. So far, they seem to be running well and keeping on time.
Pinning is rearing it’s ugly head this year and Jeff thinks its boring. Regardless, pinning seems to be here to stay. How do you defeat it? Maybe the answer is with a couple of supercells.

I'm not sure if anyone actually is going to read this thread for content anyway.. but I'll make a quick comment on something in the audio.

The team at Florida that touched the controls in the quarters as the 1st seeded alliance, yeah that was us. Now it wasn't that we didn't know about the coach button rule, or anything of that nature, it was because our robot just wasn't moving. We were all trying different things to try to get it to work, and our coach jumped in to check the ethernet cable because he figured that a small penalty was better than us not moving the entire match.

That didn't fix the problem and we sat still getting dumped on the rest of the match. Anyway, the penalty didn't affect the outcome of the match. We're still not sure what happened, our robot magically worked directly after that match when we tried it tethered.. and the momentary cutouts happened to our entire alliance all three quarter final matches. Anyway.. I won't air any of our grievances on that note, just wanted to make a quick comment on the coach thing. If anyone really cares.
