I used FileMaker Pro to develop this. FMP uses extensive GUI design but has a lot of opportunity for internal scripting. The bulk of the effort is designing the DB. Then I have to get the fields (some with built-in calculations) working as desired. The scripting really adds a lot of power. You can learn more about FileMaker at www.filemaker.com. I use FMP for a lot of information management professionally and personally. For example, my engineering logbook is FMP. I can always find past entries when friends are busy looking through their notebooks for where they wrote something down...
