Even more interesting numbers: Division of regional winners

So, last night I worked my tail off between scenes trying to get these numbers out to you wonderful people, and here they are:

9 Regional Champs and 14 Regional Finalists are missing from Nationals.

In Arch, there are 16 finalists and 14 champs...5 of which are champs and/or finalists twice (I call them "2-timers" for lack of a better word)...that breaks down to 35% of the division as winning/finalizing...19% finalists, 16% champs, and 5% 2-timers

In Curie, there are 12 finalists and 12 champs....1 of which is a 2-timer...that makes 28% of the division as winners/finalists, 14% finalists, 14% champs, and 1% 2-timers

In Galileo, there are 12 finalists and 11 champs...2 are 2-timers...that makes 27% winners/finalists, 14% finalists, 13% champs, and 2% 2-timers (NOTE: Galileo is the only division with 83 teams...the rest have 84)

In Newton, there are 9 finalists, and 11 champs....3 of which are 2-timers...that makes 23% winners/finalists, with 10% finalists and 13% champs, as well as 3% 2-timers, to break it down further..

Thats all for now....as always, if I screwed up in numbers, let me know...but since Im exhausted right now & I need to pack for FL, please analyze it yourself..do you think the division is fair?

Gimme an hour or two and I'll run a Z-test on that, although I'm not sure what I'll get out of it, lol.

Got the numbers, as insignificant as they may seem. Note that I 2-proportion Z-tested these babies for significance... as you might expect, it is significant, and I compared all stats to the Archimedes division (as they have the most regional winners). These numbers are based on the combined amounts of regional finalists/winners, which may not be entirely accurate. Here are the scant findings:

Archimedes is 83.9% likely to have a significantly greater number of finalists/champs than Curie

Archimedes is 87.7% likely to have a significantly greater number of finalists/champs than Galileo

Archimedes is 95.4% likely to have a significantly greater number of finalists/champs than Newton

Don't know if those numbers mean much to you, but it's all I could come up with right now. If anyone wants me to, I'll do a more anal crunch of numbers and get the sub-categories (i.e. number of champs, 2-timers, etc.)

I really hope this is what's going to happen on Saturday, all the teams in the divisions staying to cheer for their Division champion during the finals.

Maybe the announcer from each division can lead us in a cheer of their own for the division. And by then, there will be no more individual competitions between every teams in a division, but instead a big bonding experience supporting the one they belong to: Archimedes, Curie, Galileo, or Newton...

Come on, people... is this too much to ask?

I want Blair in Archimedes!!!

Lol, if what you say is true, will we be fighting over announcers?

Though I agree; Last year, I remember watching from the media platform a good chunk of my team scattered in the alliance to cheer on CHAOS, who a year and a day ago we won UTC with...and when I asked them later why they went to cheer CHAOS on, they answered it was merely because we had bonded with them at the regional, and since we had nothing else to do in the finals, they deserved as many voices as possible.

I think Dean finally found a way for the majority to care about the finals even if they're not in them Great job!

-Jessica B, #237

PS - Do you think the stands will be separated by division too? And if it's not divided by FIRST, do you think teams will naturally meld together by division?

Well, to a certain extent. But, I know that a few teams wouldn't be sitting in their own division, cause they have become good friends with a team in another division. And if said other team is still in the elims, I am sure they will root on a friend as opposed to the whole division.

I really hope our division (newton) doesn't get that guy who was on tv the most and liked to point at each team a lot and scream, he was really annoying.
