Wireless Connection issues
Hello,
After returning from the Boston regional, we wanted to hook up our robot for sponsors night. The driver station continuously says "no comm". I knew that at the competition a FIRST volunteer had changed our WPA settings. I reset the router and the bridge to factory defaults... Then proceeded to follow the instructions to configure the wireless components. After a successful configuration, while the Ethernet cables were still connected: pc > router > bridge i could, ping and access the configuration pages for each. When I disconnected the cable router > bridge, I could not see the bridge wirelessly. "No comm". Without a teather the robot will not do anything. Please Help, 2648 __________________ MHS Infinite Loop Robotics Maine team 2648 Blake robotics.sparks.net |

Re: Wireless Connection issues
Two things immediately come to mind, but you may have already tried these:
--Which order are you powering up the bridge and router in? Some teams experienced problems if they powered up the bridge before the router was fully initialized --Have you tried checking the security settings on the bridge to make sure that they were, in fact, reset? Good luck --Ryan |

Re: Wireless Connection issues
we've also had the same issue, starting right after the competition ended and the bot was back in the shop. Could it be something with how it connected to the field before and now theres no field to connect to?

Re: Wireless Connection issues
You may also want to check the settings on your router. There is a button on both the bridge and the router that are designed to ease setup. Accidentally pressing either of these buttons can mess with the security settings on the unit. We accidentally did this on our bridge and had to set everything back up because of it.

Re: Wireless Connection issues
But the robot does work tethered?
You might want to run through your settings, double check your SSIDs and IP addresses, and make sure your bridge is plugged into Port 1 on the cRIO. Sometimes it's good to have a second set of eyes look at it. |

Re: Wireless Connection issues
I've encountered bridges that, when reset, did not go to the normal settings we usually expect.
Go through both the bridge & router settings in your browser and make sure of all the possible security settings, e.g., the bridge WPA should be disabled, as well as, the variety of security settings under "Advanced", such as, WISH and Wi-Fi Protected Setup. Re: Wireless Connection issues
An issue you should check out is your SSID on both the WGA and your router.
During SW inspection we had several instances of teams who hadn't set their SSID correctly on the WGA. We corrected it, but that means the team's SSID on the router at home will also need to be changed to match. Your SSID should be your team number without any leading zero's. Not: "0123", "Team 0123", "linksys", "The Robotics", or "My team rocks!" |

Re: Wireless Connection issues
Has anyone tried removing the WPA encryption from the gaming adapter?

Re: Wireless Connection issues
During the Seattle Regional, our team was able to use our 2GoPC successfully on Thursday. On Friday, when it counted, we had no communication with the field and were dead during the first two matches. We were able to borrow another PC and were able to compete in the remaining matches. We had to give back our borrowed unit so now we can't run wirelessly - our broken unit will run tethered. Anyone know if this unit is warranteed and how to get a replacement?

Re: Wireless Connection issues
My team was plagued with a similar problem throughout practice sessions and we couldn't figure out what it was until we got to competition and found out the the case of the cRIO was grounding out to the metal electronics case (I told them not to use metal -_-). Our cRIO still ran, but the bridge would keep timing out and it would have a hard time hooking up to our router. I don't know how much that helped, but good luck to you all the same.
