Robot Access Before State Championship?

Do teams get to unbag their robots for 8 hours this week before going to State? Sections 3.1 & 3.2 define the access window, but I don't see anything specific about the week before State. Is it treated like a district event or a "regional" since it has Thursday practice day?

Am I missing something or has this been addressed elsewhere?

We sustained some damage in the finals at WMD and would like to get it fixed, but we don't want to get in trouble by fixing it before Thursday.

Re: Robot Access Before State Championship?

The 8 hour robot access periods is essentially a replacement for the missing Thursday pit hours that a traditional regional would have. As the Michigan State Championship is a full 3 day event it is treated like a traditional regional and there is no associated access period.

Re: Robot Access Before State Championship?

I believe that teams that did not , repeat, did not attend a third district or out of state regional should recieve 8 to 12 hours of open bag time. This would even things up and take this championship to the level it should be. This is something FiM can do quickly and it is only fair.

Re: Robot Access Before State Championship?

To late now but for next year, teams attending a third event maybe shouldn't get 8 hrs open bag time before 3rd event. Not much you can do about the time they get during the competition.

Re: Robot Access Before State Championship?

The thing with that is - basically, it means for $500 you can get some serious bang for your buck in practice and/or build/repair time. For any team that can afford it, that's a happy bonus, but for rookie teams (as is our case), small town teams, etc. that are generally not really well-funded, that's an ouch.

Still, my daddy never told me life was fair.

Re: Robot Access Before State Championship?

Your team leader should have recieved an email stating no 8 hr access before States and Championship in Atlanta. Plus, robot must be crated and out the door by tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck in Atlanta!
