Nope, it translates it into a series of electrical charges (and lack thereof) that a computer or other device reads as data for pixels. (Additionally, it does not need to be a digital media card. One could charge separate pieces of one foot by one foot aluminum and use them as a storage material. It would not be logical, efficient, or make any sense, but it could be done.)
If you cool Helium as much as currently possible, it becomes a fluid.
