Is there any way to check how many of the 37 different champions were first selections or alliance captains?

Another way to ask - how many of our winners were second picks?

I will go through and check. At first glance several of the winners were indeed the later picks, but this of course doesn't mean that they didn't contribute to their alliance.

Check out Team 1114's Scouting Database. It's not updated with divisions yet, but I'm sure it will be soon.

Oh of course, in this game more than ever, the third robot is extremely important. And if you can survive through the finals, you did something right. It's just interesting to know.

Re: Curie 2009!

Skunkworks is looking forward to a great competition in Atlanta!!
Curie is the place to be!! We anticipate making a bunch of new friends from all over FIRST!!!

If anyone is compiling the information regarding the regional winners

We were the #1 pick by the #1 Alliance captain in both Portland and Seattle.
Thanks to 1318 and 2635 we were able to be part of the Oregon winning Alliance.

See you all in about a week!! I can't believe it!!!

Re: Curie 2009!

Winner breakdown from the 1114 database:

68 seeded 14th and was the 1st pick.
70 seeded 5th and was the 1st pick
79 seeded 2nd and was the #2 alliance captain
175 seeded 6th and was the 4th pick
188 seeded 3rd and was the 1st pick
190 seeded 5th and was the 2nd pick
217 seeded 2nd, 1st, and 1st, and was the 1st pick, #1 captain, and #1 captain
245 seeded 1st and was the #1 alliance captain
247 seeded 17th and was the 16th pick (second round)
254 seeded 9th and was the 1st pick
287 seeded 5th and was the #4 alliance captain
341 seeded 7th and was the 4th pick
346 seeded 2nd and was the #2 alliance captain
395 seeded 10th and was the #6 alliance captain
399 seeded 1st and was the #1 alliance captain
668 seeded 18th and was the 1st pick
1013 seeded 27th and was the 14th pick (second round)
1024 seeded 33rd and was the 13th pick (second round)
1099 seeded 28th and was the 15th pick (second round)
1165 seeded 21st and was the 16th pick (second round)
1425 seeded 2nd and was the #2 alliance captain
1622 seeded 3rd and was the #3 alliance captain
1675 seeded 27th and was the 14th pick (second round)
1747 seeded 1st and was the #1 alliance captain
1771 seeded 3rd and was the #3 alliance captain
1796 seeded 23rd and was the 13th pick (second round)
1806 seeded 1st and was the #1 alliance captain
1893 seeded 13th and was the 12th pick (second round)
1983 seeded 19th and was the 1st pick
2039 seeded 1st and was the #1 alliance captain
2173 seeded 28th and was the 16th pick (second round)
2185 seeded 26th and 46th and was the 16th pick and 16th pick (second round x2)
2194 seeded 32nd and was the 16th pick (second round)
2443 seeded 22nd and was the 15th pick (second round)
2621 seeded 19th and was the 13th pick (second round)
2635 seeded 22nd and was the 16th pick (second round)
2815 was a finalist rather than a winner (my mistake!)

So a total of 15 of our 39 wins were as a second round pick (38.5%). Consider that, naturally, 33% of all regional winners are second round picks .

Also note that only 395 and 1893 won on anything but one of the top 4 alliances.

Re: Curie 2009!

This should be a very competitive field to be on. Glad to see we are with some of the teams I was hoping to be in a Division with because they seem cool and have some skill. .
