Woah, ok, ok, I sense some tension here.

Other than a slight fear of stagnation among teams and what they do as the years go by, I have the upmost faith that this will eventually be for the better.

I dont know if it'll be a better breed or not, that depends heavily on the teams themselves, but all we can really do is adapt to the changes and hope for the best.

PS - I dont know how long you've been around for, but yes, the community DOES complain when there are major rule changes (I was not around for most of these, but I heard they were just as bad): the introduction of the human element, the introduction of alliances, the introduction of 4-0, for example.
And what about the lengthy conversations about the kit of parts? The "spinny light" issue? And every year someone says that the field is too large, too small, etc.
But we're allowed to complain: we're putting countless amounts of dollars, time, and spirit into these things we call "robotics teams". It's the reason why we have forums, so that we can get different viewpoints and just vent a little, to show that we're not the only one affected by it. It's an adaptation of the adage "If you don't vote, don't complain".
But you know what? We all adapted...and by Kickoff, we'll all be complaining about something else.
