1 Red Ring on XBOX 360?

Hello,

I turned on my friend's XBOX and turns out that he has 1 red ring. For example, the red ring of death has 3 lights on, but this type only has 1 red light on.

I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. Some websites say it's not plugged into the TV and some say that it's a manufacturing issue.

Please let me know if someone here has dealt with this problem, or knows about it.

This may simply be an issue of over temp on the microproc. If the box is still in warranty then opening it is not an option. There is Microsoft tamperproof sticker internal to the box that needs to be removed for entry into the box. The two fans suck a lot of dirt into the box which clogs the heatsink. Unfortunately, self diagnostics are not a big deal in Xbox so there could be something wrong with either the cable or the connector. If the box doesn't get moved and it lives on the ground or inside a cabinet, suspect the dirt. If it moved a lot, suspect the connector/cable.
There is a lot of info on the net about error messages and fixes. Choose wisely...

Check to make sure that both the power and AV cables are securely connected at the Xbox side. I had this problem at one point and it cleared up after checking those connections.
