Try applying for internships at places that you dont normally think of as employers of mechanical engineers. There are many fun things to do other than work on automobiles. For example, try applying for an internship at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI. Not only do they do many interesting things, but they also have a FIRST team!
