267's belated thanks to our Archimides partners
Posted by James Jones at 04/17/2001 12:25 PM EST
Engineer on team #267, The Demolition Squad, from North Broward & St Andrews and Motorola. Team 267 just wanted to thank our alliance partners teams 74,312,21 and Dragonslayers (forgot your number). You guys had great teams and great robots. It was a pleasure to work with you. I'll never forget the excitement after posting that 600 just in the nick of time. Sorry we didn't make it to the main stage. |

Engineer on team #21, ComBBAT , from Astronaut H.S. and Titusville H.S. and Brevard Community College and Boeing Company and NASA-KSC. In Reply to: 267's belated thanks to our Archimides partners Posted by James Jones on 04/17/2001 12:25 PM EST: The Boeing ComBBAT Team (#21) graciously accepts your thanks. It was a pleasure to compete with such professional teams. We consider field leadership one of the most difficult and greatest teaching challenges that FIRST has to offer. We were all completely impressed with the leadership skill of the Team captain and driver for Haworth Holland (#74). That's quite rare for a student. I'm sure it will carry him a long way. And it's always a pleasure and a blessing to be paired with Heatwave (#312). They have a long and tremendous history of winning. Somehow, someway. Too bad we couldn't post another perfect, sub 1 minute score. It may have been enough to tie or even possibly win against the Champion Beatty and their partners. Take care all. PS - James if you can stimulate the creation of a small Mayhem in Miami competition that would be great. Sounds like there are motivation and momentum problems. We don't need a big competition or awards or anything. Just a field, a date ane we'll show up and compete. |

I'm not a major player in this...just have my ear to the ground. This is from one of our team leaders. "I just got off the phone with Nola. The principal at Coral Park High School (RamTech #59) is planning to talk with the president if FIU to pitch the idea of continuing Mayhem. She has agreed to let us know as soon as they have some sort of approval to go forward with Mayhem or any other alternate plans that might be developed." |

In Reply to: Re: Mayhem in Miami Posted by James Jones on 04/19/2001 10:03 AM EST: Hello! Yes, that is so. Here is the full message. The reason I put the full is because we are also having FLL teams compete. More than likely, I, along with a few others, will be in charge of FLL. Please email me, RidlerMyth@aol.com, of if you havea team and would like to compete. Heres the message: Good news! The principal of Miami Coral Park (High) is checking and should have an answer by this Friday on a venue for Mayhem. It would be for both FIRST and FLL. As soon as I know anything I will send you an email. I heard from the team from Puerto Rico and they want to come to Mayhem in Miami. I will send them an email and tell them what I told you. It would be great if we can pull this thing off!! Keep your fingers crossed! Thanks for your patience! Nola |
