I do not think we will see 1000 teams for a couple years still. There were 520 or so teams this year (keep in mind that there are over 200 team #s not used that are less than 720). And if we assume growth rates like the last 6 years (somewhere between 30-45% per year), we can expect around 700-750 teams next year. If FIRST starts filling in the blanks, then we will definately not see 1000 next year (and possibly the year after), however if they leave the blanks and keep on adding on to the end, we could see 1000 next year if there is more growth than expected.

: This year the number of new team in the comp. sky rocketed more than I ever could have ever thought possible. Last year our team was a rookie (team 442) and we were one of the last teams to sign up (I think we might have hit 500 last year) but from 442 to 700s , amazing. So does anyone think we can hit team 911 or even the 1000s. That would be cool but it might bring up the discussion of qualifying at the regionals to get to the nationals.
