So this wasn't in Atlanta, but there were a couple designs in Idaho that I thought were interesting. One team's kit only came with two 12 volt motors for some reason, (something to do with them registering very late in the season) but they still made a robot capable or scoring in the circle. It worked by ramming the rack so that all the pucks fell into an aluminum trough, then ramming the goal just as fast in reverse to make the pucks fall into the circle. It didn't do very well in competiton, but I thought they overcame their challenges very well.
They had a 120 tooth driving a 80 tooth driving a 40 tooth on each side (each motor powered 2 wheels) so the thing could really move, too. |
