Re: Pneumatic Scorers
Beat me to it Cory!
1622 had a unique design this year that worked very well! Had a great time playing with your team in Vegas this year! -Keaton |

Re: Pneumatic Scorers
Ha, yes that was us. There is only one other team that I know of who used the same method of shooting. (Their name eludes me at the moment.) I am sure there were more though.
Here's kind of an oddball picture of ours: ![]() |

Re: Pneumatic Scorers
I really like your use of colors.. the aqua-ish teal-ish colors is one of the colors of our school..
Where'd you pick up those kinds of materials? (in terms of color schemes) btw thats a very smexy picture! did you have any problems with moon rocks getting jammed when the piston retracted? if you perchance remember the name of the team, please share! Re: Pneumatic Scorers
Thanks, Kapolavery for the kind words. To answer your question, no, there were no jamming problems. However, twice Moon Rocks did get stuck over a shooter due to broken Moon Rocks and the shooter simply moved in and out of the Moon Rock and stayed there for the duration of the match.

Re: Pneumatic Scorers
That actually made me laugh out loud.
We used that design because we figured almost nobody else would use it and it would be pretty unique. Initially we thought we were a shooter so we ran those cylinders at 60psi. After realized we were really a hybrid shooter/dumper/thing we dialed them down to 19psi and stuck with that. It already makes a distinctive sound at 19psi, however when we ran it at 60lbs we would get a ringing sound through all the aluminum of the frame, similar to that of a tuning fork. OP, to answer your question the only time we ever had balls get stuck on the cylinders was when we would chance upon a broken ball. Otherwise, the cylinders actually force fed themselves. When the cylinder's retract, the edge of the cup "grabs" the next ball in the lane, and pulls it down into the chamber, ready to fire. |

Re: Pneumatic Scorers
Couple of times on Curie when Spyder was scoring, the announcer would say something like "There goes Spyder, scoring again. Hear that, that is the sound of money". Spyer's bot had a unique sound when it was scoring points. Very cool.

Re: Pneumatic Scorers
Aww man I felt special for a second. Our robot used 3 pistons to fire moonrocks as well, we could fire individually or all 3 at once, but I must admit that your bot is a whole lot prettier than ours. At Peachtree before the announcer figured out it was our pistons making the loud *CHUNK* noise he thought it was our gears.
