For the first time in my history of FIRST, because I wasn't a coach and our machine had no problems, this year I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time in the stands. I spoke with many, many people who weren't necessarily on teams, but just showed up to see what it was all about.

Every single person I spoke with who had seen the competition last year had the same thing to say, "last year was more exciting."

While it's true that there were moments when the game was fun to watch this year, the majority of the competition, unless your team was on the field, just wasn't that great.
