The most important part of a drive team that you can't teach. Honestly any pair of drivers who can achieve this is good in my book.

Re: 2009 Drivers

Tons of teams had almost the exact same design for their robot this year so I think the drivers were the single biggest factor in winning this year. That is one of the reasons 67 was as powerful as they were this year, their driver team was fantastic. Teams like 217, 1114, and 148 also had great drive teams. One team that jumped out at me was 3119. Their driver was simply fantastic. She (I believe their driver was a girl) almost always had an empty trailer and played some of the best defense of the year.

crazy moment though, the 1188 driver avoided getting ANY balls in his trailer in an entire match against the 217-67 alliance at troy! i wasn't watching them till like 10 seconds left my buddy was like hey 1188 has NO balls in there trailer!
lol that was definatly an epic moment, that whole alliance round was one i'll remember for a long time. thanks alot man im honored to be mentioned here.

also as you said and the 910 person said 3119 driver was great at keeping themselfs out of harms way, we were more than impressed.

Team 743 at New York and Connecticut. They played some of the greatest defense I have ever seen. They were able to pin 121 for an entire match.

the funny thing is i heard that they switched drivers between ny and hartford but they still managed to pin us well at both events.

I would have to say teams 67 and 217. Hot won everything they went to and Thunder Chickens won all but the championship.

Re: 2009 Drivers

1712 had a great chase robot, and since their ball manipulator was really fast, they could fill a trailer on the go,..

1538 was also really good at filling trailers on the go, and since their bot held a ton of moon rocks, they could almost entirely fill a trailer in one shot.

Re: 2009 Drivers

Thanks a lot to anyone who Mentioned 816 or myself in this thread.

As for my choice on the best driver this year? I'd Have to go with Brad from 399. His driving was fast and precise, which weren't two things you saw very often on the Regolith. He took a Decent Robot and Made it a Regional Winner and a Division Finalist. (399, please don't take this the wrong way, you had a great machine) He also knew how to take risks and make them pay off which was one of the most important aspects of this year's game. By the way, he did all of this without Traction Control.

There were a lot of other good Drivers out there too like:
222
188
11
2753 (They had a fan... so it doesn't count)

Thanks Dustin, means a lot coming from you. And definitely no offense taken, we did not have the best robot, or anything close to it. But we drove it amazingly well. lol.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am so very honored (although years later) that you guys think I did a great job. I truly miss being in First Robotics soooo much. I tried my best for my team, and we suceeded. I'm truly proud of 3119.!

Re: 2009 Drivers

I have to give credit to 1771's drive team from 2009. Michael and Christopher on the joysticks, with Sean as coach, and Kathleen as human player. The team was the number one pick at Peachtree, Palmetto, Curie, and IRI, and was the #1 seed at the inaugural GRITS, Winning both Palmetto and GRITS.
