Mayhem in Miami

Posted by Korey R Kline at 05/01/2001 1:59 PM EST

Engineer on team #59, Ramtech, from Miami Coral Park HS and eAc / FIU.

I just talked to Nola Garcia (she'll be out of town until Monday) and she asked me to post this.

She regrets she was unable to get the Panther Arena @ FIU for Mayhem in Miami. She is hoping that somebody or Team who participated the last few years could pick up the ball and see about having it somewhere else. How about you’re local High School auditorium?

The teams that attended had a lot of great times at Mayhem the last few years, I personally liked the
"King of the Hill" competition.

Frenzy in Fort Lauderdale?

I doubt that the administration would be supportive
here at Dillard HS. They treat the gym floor like it
was made of precious gems. They roll down these
thick protective mats whenever its not being used
for a game. Building a field on top would probably
be out of question. Our auditorium is booked
through the end of the year with a production.
Besides we'd have to rename it Frenzy in Fort
Lauderdale.
Assuming that space could be arranged, how long
would it need to be booked for? What else would
need to be provided?

"Diabolical Dynamics at Dillard" ?

Clint- Mention this to Dave P. at Taravella...if Dillard can't support maybe his school can...

Also, we'd need another team to help build the field as we've torn down our setup.

I know that our school and NMB are both trying to get the facilities for mayhem...Last year I helped set up and take down set up took about 8 hours and take down about half. SO you set up the field on thursday night and have competition friday and saturday and then you get people to stay ater the comp to help take down saturday

I'm sure my team would be willing to come on a weekend. As long as we have at least two weeks notice, we will be there. Just let us know where and when. Thanks!

Hey!

We just talked to Nola, and even if we do get some place free, just the ELECTRONICS part of Mayhem will cost $20,000, and we don't have that kind of money... Unless some other team or company basically sponsors it, I dont think there will b 1 =(
