No Comms Issue....

We have had a no communications issue since atlanta, this problem isn't new to us but we seem to have forgotten how to resolve the issue here are the steps we took in order sort of.

1# - Hard reset both the Router and the Wireless Bridge
2# - Set the IP on the Router again (Wireless Bridge didn't allow us on)
3# - Various resetting and trying to connect the Wireless Bridge
4# - Finally able to reset the IP on the Wireless Bridge due to instructions on here.
5# - Checked everything to see if it had the same IP address it was supposed to which every IP was or appeared to be right.
6# - Hit head off of our table when it didn't work

Could anyone explain what we missed or if anything needs to be done we need it fixed as soon as possible. Thanks

Re: No Comms Issue....

If you reset the router and Wireless Bridge you will have to set all the settings up according to the Control system manual (IP, SSID, etc.)

Also make sure that the security on both devices is set to "Off".

We did thats the thing. We did everything the Control System Manual told us to do and it doesn't seem to like that very much

Re: No Comms Issue....

Based on what you said, I would first check to make sure all Ethernet cables are correctly plugged in. Second Check if the LED next to the driver station ethernet port that your using is lit to ensure communication. Third make sure you are not using a cross over cable to connect the driver station to the router or the gaming adapter to the Crio. The only place the crossover cable should be used in between the Crio and the Camera, otherwise just use standard patch ethernet cable.

Re: No Comms Issue....

Should the driver station light be solid or flashing? It might also be our cRio because of our tethering issues. I'll have to look into that thanks

The driver station light should be solid. If it is flashing that indicates interrupted communication. That could be a result of a faulty cable, faulty connection, or in worst case scenario a fried ethernet port on the driver station. Which seems to be happening a lot due to the static discharge. Speaking of that, is your driver station grounded?

Re: No Comms Issue....

Yes our DS is grounded as per the update. I think we may have ruined a port on our DS and cRio

Re: No Comms Issue....

Our team just really uncrated the robot, and tested it today, and we go the no comms sign too, when wireless

What we have done:
1) Checked to see if it works tethered [it does]
2) Looked at control guide, and plug the laptop into each ethernet port, and pinged the IP Address that the control guide said on it, including computer
3) Re-downloaded code [while tethered] power cycled [turn off -> on] robot, and try to run wirelessly again [didn't work though]
4) Think to ourselves why we may be having this problem

I thought it was because of that code they gave us at the competition for the black wireless box you put on the robot, I forgot exactly what you called it but I remember having to but some like password code thing in at regionals and I THINK that's the reason it's not working, but I am not sure.

Any suggestions?

Re: No Comms Issue....

Be sure to check which port you are plugged in to on the router. Both times our team has had this problem, it was after an extended break from the robot and I accidentally plugged the cord from the DS into the Internet port on the router or the bridge into port 2 on the cRio instead of port 1. Verify that ALL connections are plugged into the correct spot.

Hook the laptop up to the DS and ping all of the different devices to see where you lose your connection.

Re: No Comms Issue....

It's because of "...some like password code thing in at regionals..."

Your robot only listens for a wireless signal with the right password.
Just connect your laptop via ethernet cable to the robot's radio and turn off the WPA.

Basic -> Wireless
Security Mode: None
