Invitationals In July???

Posted by Justin at 05/03/2001 2:24 PM EST

Alumni on team #146, Blue Lightning, from none and The Blue Lightning Alumni Association.

Hello Everyone,

It appears that the invitational season of FIRST is about to kick into High Gear. As I look at my calendar I'm not seeing much in July. Are there any teams in the New England/Northeast or any teams in general planning a invtiational comptetion in July??

Thanks...GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE both runing and particiapting in an event this summer,

Justin

Well, yes there is. The Baxter Ozark Mountain Brawl is scheduled for July 27 - 28.

We went last year and had a GREAT time! I recommend this event to everyone. It's quite a trek from New England but if you could manage it you would be glad you came!

Frank

Well, yeah, its quite a 24-hr long trek by car (from CT), farther by Greyhound by 10 hours, and even further by Amtrak, which needs to stop in Chicago to then head south to AR. Plus, its very expensive. The cheapest I could get it was $82, round trip, but it was as bad as $188. Finally, I'd have to convince my 'rents about it. Any suggestions?

If you are considering coming to Arkansas by air:

Airline options are:

Northwest Arkansas Regional - (XNA) - 3 hour drive
Memphis - 4 hours
Little Rock - 3 hours
Springfield MO - 21/2 hours
Direct to Mountain Home (Lone Star Airlines from St Louis and Dallas - 20 passenger commuter plane)

Robot shipping will not be a problem

We are planning to play all day on Friday
Speed races, agility course, tasks, girls matches, and even a dance contest - competition on Saturday. We should be finished by 5:00 on Saturday. Nothing planned on Saturday night but I'm sure the students will all get together if you are still in town.

Mountain Home is a vacation area (lakes, rivers, lots of camping) go to mtnhomechamber.com for info

Where is this regional... us northerners are always looking to go random places... especially when robots are involved.

I'm guessing it's in the Ozark Mountain region, somewhere in Arkansas; Greg or Becky can provide more details. I haven't been there, but I'm definately going this year.
