The 71 alliance got a 720 in the semis and the 308 alliance got a 720 in the semis and in the finals. 308 did a great job picking their alliance, and it was a pleasure to work with them. I'll probably post more after I get some rest. Mike |

They all played very consistent and really well!. Congratulation to the Technokats. They make hosting an invitational look very easy. Many thanks for making it happen. This was an exciting and gut wrenching tournament, and I hope a lot of folks enjoyed it as much as we did. Regards, Bill Beatty |

In Reply to: 308, 111, 469, 85 Posted by Mike Soukup on 05/05/2001 10:30 PM EST: I want to send out a big THANK YOU to our partner teams in the finals at the IRI. It was great working with all of you and I hope we get a chance to work together in the future. 111: When we picked you, I was hoping you wouldn't be disappointed that you weren't able to use the ramp configuration. We knew that you guys were great at moving the goal and we knew you were great under pressure. Thank you for working with us and thank you for playing the game with the top-notch caliber that that marks a great team such as yours. 85: We did notice the issues early on, but we also realized that things happen and things get fixed. I'm just glad that we talked with you throughout the day so we knew that everything was working. When you played with us toward the end of the seeding matches, we knew everything was great, so we didn't think twice when we had the opportunity to pick you. You're very fun to work with and the jokes were great. 469: What can I say except, "third time's the charm". We discussed "the trend" before: how we were semi-finalists in Grand Rapids, finalists at Great Lakes, and that we would be champions had we gotten a third time. Well, what do you know, it happened. Thanks for all the great times this year. I want to give a special thanks to team 71, who is one of the most gracious teams that I have ever met. The sportsmanship that this team displays is second to none. All through the day they congratulated us on our seeding matches and on our finals matches. I'll never forget when Brian Beatty, during the handshake in the finals, told me, "put up another big one so we can give the crowd the exciting finish that they came to see." That was first class all the way. Thank you all from all of Team 308 - Walled Lake Monsters! -Chris |

In Reply to: Thank you all Posted by Chris Hibner on 05/07/2001 2:49 PM EST: I was a little disappointed when you said we wouldn't get to use the ramp, but I knew that you guys were in charge of the alliance and we were willing to do whatever it took to get big scores. I had the attitude of "tell us what to do and we'll do the best job possible." It worked pretty well. 308, 469, 85 all did a great job in the elims. The only mistake I remember by any of us in elims was when we didn't put the goal close enough to the bridge in the first match. Good job everyone. I agree 100% with you about team 71. This was the first time I got to coach and dealing with 71's drive team was nothing but a pleasure. Brian especially. He wished us luck in the elims and congradulated us when we won. I have nothing but respect for their team. On a side note, it was good to finally beat 71 instead of falling to them for a third time. Mike |
