High School Class Rings

Posted by Kyle Fenton at 05/13/2001 12:56 PM EST

Student on team #121, Islanders, from Middletown High School and NUWC.

Does anybody know if any ring store that sells high
school class rings, with the FIRST logo. The
largest ring store, Balfour, that are school uses,
has lots of organizations, sports, and mascots, for
their rings, but not FIRST.

If you going to spend a lot of money on a ring, you
better have it with an organization that you spend
the most time with.

Robotics in general don't get enough recognition at our
school. Football gets to take the entire school out of
classes for a long dumb pep-rally where a bunch of
jocks try to look big in front of everyone, but
robotics fights to get a spot on the morning
announcements. t'aint right

Well, it's time to decide on our rings. I'm going to attempt to get a gear with a halo over it (our MOE logo), because our company, Student Services Co. siad they would make custom designs. We're lucky, as far as school recognition goes. We had multiple announcements about the team and an assembly. Maybe if you guys talked with the administration you could show off your robot to your classmates? Good luck.

hahaha...if we talked to our administration...yeah maybe theyd let us have an assembly...except that it was our administration who turned down an idea we had to do some fundraising at our school for our team...after we got 2nd place at utc we told our administration about it and asked for a 'prime time' announcement (before the main announcements they give a special announcement...usually more important - like when our football team won the superbowl) eventually we got like a sentence in the main announcements 3 weeks later...

At least your lucky to have pep rallies! We have to PAY for our pep rallies- $5, and NONE of our money goes towards any school activity- it goes to United Way. EVERYY fundraiser just about is for UW. I mean, I wouldnt mind if we had even 5 big events JUST for UW, but EVERYTHING is for it. Its rather stupid.
Its not just that, its that the pep rallies STILL stink! Here, we dont even consider them to BE pep rallies!
Just about ever1 knows the robotics team here. They know most of the students involved in it, et al. but we dont get any real stuff... ever1 just knows that we have an awesome engineering lab that does Robotics every year. besides, we only have about 20ish some membrs, so obviously the whole school is not involved in it.

Oh, also, we here have Herff Jeff for our Rings, and the closes thing to Robotics was "electronics" Its a ball with a lightning bolt through it. I wanted a gear instead, but they dont have it. It sucks. The worst thing is that my school logo is basically the same except it has MKHS in it (my school initials)- and to TOP it off, our mascot is the LIGHTNING!

=(

Do you guys have any engineering gears or anything for your rings?

weve had two pep rallies in like the whole 160-year history of my school as far as i know: for the football team last year and this year (before superbowl) and they both just consisted of everyone missing a class and going to the gym and sitting and listening to them say everyfootball players name
as far as our robots team is concerned people know whos on it and all but the school just doesnt care...

WHS' Pep Rallies & the Robot

Yes, the 99 robot was in a pep rally.....but all it did was spin around the gym with a giant sign that said "I love seniors", to which the school went nuts about...it was also an opportunity to sing happy birthday to our human player, Amanda.

We won UTC in 2000 and we had to go announce it ourselves when we came back on monday...though on Friday, every time we rose in rank, we'd call the high school....we called at 16th, 10th, 8th, 5th, 4th, and finally, 1st. We found out later that after every time we'd call, they'd make an announcement on the intercom about it to the school...and it was also said an English teacher said after we hit 1st was "Good, they can't get any higher, now we won't be interrupted anymore."

Though, after the basketball team's 53-loss streak, after they won a game everything was dropped to make sure the basketball team would get a decent pep rally a few days later.

-Jessica B, #237

PS - Ive told my team leader that if we do ever get a spot in the pep rally he has to call all of the gradutates back to watch it

An interesting idea would be if our school all got together to cheer on the robotics team. Then we could act all tough and macho and start rapping and breakdancing. Oh wait, we can't rap or breakdance. Oh wait, the football team couldn't either.

When I was with the Juggernauts in 99, we got rings with the first logo and national champs on the front with a little diamond in the middle. the ring was gold... I don't remember how many karats though. mine is still waaayyyy too big.

Yeah, it sux. I can't believe that something so in tune with the learning process isn't even considered a real sport. Of corse mindless fightning and hitting is glorified, even by the very faculty who does the teaching. We had a hard time getting days off for Florida. Rugby didn't seem to have difficulty going to Texas, and that was school funded. We don't get a pep rally, we get ignored. We don't get nice team shirts from our school, we get ignored. We don't get a P.A. announcement or high fives when we come back from a competition, we get ignoreed. I don't think we should be considered a school sport because we're better then that.
