Re: Bridgewater-Raritan Battle Royale

Athleticgirl389: the directions link on the br2.panztech.com page includes a campus map that shows the gyms.

The recent email on BR2 mentions a couple of things with no details, and I don't see them on the website either. Does anyone know what the "game mod" and "optional matches" are about?

I know of at least 3 teams that are attending but are not on the list yet. I think there will be a few more by the time it rolls around.

It seems to be challenging these days to get teams to attend new offseason events. They are just too much fun for me to stay away from =D If I had my way, my team would be going to all within a 2-3 hour radius lol. But that's just me

Re: Bridgewater-Raritan Battle Royale

Just some updates.

Quote:
Greetings ALL Registered AND Interested Teams,

We trust that your last weekend of May went well and you are ready for June and the Summer beyond.

Before we all get to that point, we are only FOUR DAYS away from doing our Field Set-up on Thursday afternoon, June 4th in preparation for the June 6th "MAIN EVENT" ------- The LAST Lunacy !!!!

With our field being set-up on Thursday afternoon, there are opportunities available to ALL TEAMS to DROP-OFF their robot EARLY for the main event. These opportunities are available on Thursday after 2:30 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday morning from 8:00 AM until NOON.

ALL EARLY arrival robots will be "CHECKED-IN" with our scorekeeper, Sarah Nied, and this will ensure that all field / robot codes are coordinated in advance of the Saturday morning "crunch". Our friend, Tim Leicht, of team 1403 suggested that we use the same SSID codes on the June 6th event as were used at the Monty Madness event. Given the number of teams that overlap these events, this seems to be a great idea to reduce changes needed on Saturday morning. Accordingly, if you have not made changes in your machine since attending Monty Madness, your robot will likely sail through Sarah's check-in process. ALL others will need to download the proper SSID code at some point before playing on Saturday morning, so the sooner the better.

ADDITIONALLY, ALL EARLY ARRIVAL TEAMS are invited to take part in our assembly program on Friday afternoon ( 12:30 PM through 2:20 PM ) to raise the awareness of FIRST with both the students and staff at BRHS. WE ARE HOPING TO HAVE AT LEASE SIX TEAMS FOR THIS ASSEMBLY SO WE CAN GIVE THE CROWD A GOOD LOOK AT FIRST IN THE LUNACY FORMAT.

IF YOUR TEAM PLANS TO ARRIVE EARLY AND / OR TAKE PART IN THE FRIDAY ASSEMBLY MATCH PLAY, PLEASE REPLY WITH A RETURN E-MAIL. IN YOUR RETURN E-MAIL, PLEASE INCLUDE TWO ITEMS.........
1) THE ESTIMATED TIME OF YOUR EARLY DROP-OFF
2) YOUR PLAN TO HAVE A DRIVE TEAM IN PLACE TO TAKE PART IN OUR ASSEMBLY PROGRAM

Thank you for your interest in taking part in this "Last" of the Spring - 2009 post-season events in our area.

We are ready to support at least EIGHT MATCHES per TEAM during the morning portion of the day. We will then go to Alliance Selections before LUNCH and seek your input regarding some "Optional Match Play" for the time frame right after lunch. Please be advised that the "Optional Match Play" is for Awards purposes only and will not have any affect on RANKINGS and ALLIANCES.

Keep your eyes on the IN BOX for additional Update Messages as we move closer to the event.

Re: Bridgewater-Raritan Battle Royale

Team 1676 had a great time at (BR)^2. Lots of action, great rules modifications, and superb announcing. Nice venue, too, can't wait for the next one!

Woody Flowers was on hand, and he received a special award there. It's not my place to go into the details, so I ask someone directly involved to create athread on that topic. But, we got him to sign our robot!

We all had a lot of fun. In the image below, we see Wayne Cokeley being "taken for a ride" by his team.

Both 1923 and 2753 went undefeated in qualifiers.

After an odd elimination structure the final alliances were the number 1 and 2 seeds.

First Seed was 1923, 25, and 1048

Second Seed was 2753, 102, and 136

Second Seed won.

Design award went to 1279, highest seed to 1923, and highest score to 2753, 102, and 136. That is all I can remember.

It was an awesome event, many thanks to 303, Bridgewater's AP physics class(?), and all the volunteers that put it on. Also, congrats to 1923, 25, and 1048, it was awesome playing once again.

I'll answer as much as I can.

As of now, the information about the game modifications are set to go out this coming Monday (June 1).

The "optional matches" are a concept we are talking about to lengthen the day and give everyone more matches if (as it is looking as of now) we do not have our full amount of teams registered.

If you have any more questions, it would probably get you a quicker and more detailed response if you contacted Mr. Kloberg directly. His email is pkloberg@brrsd.k12.nj.us.

Thanks to all who signed up so far.
