Will we see Artificial Neural Networks in FRC in 2010?

Theoretically you could implement neural networks using any Turing-complete system (including LabVIEW even ), so I don't think the specific implementation of the JVM on the cRIO supporting your library has a lot to do with it. There are many free libraries out there for using neural networks; the bigger questions are 1. whether the cRIO will have enough computing horsepower to evaluate a network in real time during a match, and 2. if teams are able to put in the amount of work required to train a network in the short period of time we are given.

It is an interesting idea however, and sounds like a great off-season project, at least to start experimenting with the idea. What kind of functionality were you thinking to implement using ANNs?
