Re: pic: Ths is how we do it(in programming)
I realized right after I posted... that's not... no... hot glue? *cringes* Guess how this programmer learned we don't use that on motor shafts?

O.o Thanks programmers, you just ruined any credibility the rest of us code monkeys had as far as knowing anything about putting stuff together

Re: pic: Ths is how we do it(in programming)
The important question is, did it work for the time you needed it?
(Safety lectures aside - - I think that's a good effort for a fix in a pinch!) |

Re: pic: Ths is how we do it(in programming)
H,, that's odd, it posted the photo but not the dsecription. Oh well...
The story is that this is on a robot that I took home with me to do some-last minute programming. When it got to my house, I discovered that the mechanical and d electrical teams had not done any testing at all , and the robot had several malfunctions, including this sprocket that was not properly fastened onto the gearbox thingy. However, the problem was, being at my house and not our shop,I lacked the proper tool to attach it. So this is our interim solution:hot glue. |

). Eventually you'll have enough tools to build or fix your own <whatever>. Just last night while fixing the central air conditioning system in my townhome I used a hacksaw I bought in 1998 (9th grade) and a screwdriver set I got at a garage sale ($2 for the whole set!) at the start of my college senior design project. |

Re: pic: Ths is how we do it(in programming)
I think that his mechanical team should've sent a drive ready bot home with their programmer. How many other team positions work "on the bot" when they're not at meetings?

Re: pic: Ths is how we do it(in programming)
Nathan, this makes me sad, but at least our mechanical team is not responsible for the ghetto fix this time. Did you get it working well enough to program, and did you get to give it to William to do a proper fix? Hope the summer is goin well for you guys back in Davis.
