Submission
How are we suppose to group everything together for the award submission? Last year we use the pack and go utility and that didn't seem to be very useful. Also it said to use 7zip, i think, and that corrupted our zip file.

Re: Submission
Winrar is very good for packing and zipping.

Re: Submission
WinRar would be my recommendation as well.

Re: Submission
I have actually never had issues with massive 7zip compressions to any format.
Maybe it was a bad build or you got unlucky. http://lifehacker.com/5065324/five-b...pression-tools |

Re: Submission
I agree. I use winrar all the time. I love it. I think the manual specified 7zip. Anyway, before you even zip it, how should the folders be? Should we use pack and go or is there a better way?

Re: Submission
Ewwww, winrar. I just two-finger click on a folder and hit the compress option. Wait, Windows computers. Sorry, I drag it off of my Virtual OS onto the Mac desktop, THEN press the compress button. Wait, REAL Windows.... WinRar is a decent option, but the Pack and Go option in Inventor can work quite well if you're as disorganized as I am when it comes to CAD....

Re: Submission
So the judges do not care whether we use pack and go and compress or just compress our files?

Re: Submission
Never having submitted for the Inventor award, I couldn't tell you. I'm not sure that they'd care. Try it both ways and see how it works before you do the competition one; you'll gain practice.
I can, however, tell you that bump posts are not allowed on CD: Quote:

Re: Submission
This year the judges will create a "Inventor Kit" that should have the project file and file structure pre-made, they talked about having it be a requirement to use both. Also there will be no defective jpg images on electronics, etc. More will come as we get closer to season. Also if you check out firstbase, they said that inventor 2010 should be available in october, along with new tools. No details yet besides the upgraded software from last year.

Re: Submission
Folks,
We recommend Pack & Go as it will go a long way to ensure that all of your Inventor files (and dependent documents) are indeed collected. Please note that drawings will not be included; you'll need to do that manually. If you are _confident_ with your file structure, including your Content Center files, imported images, etc, there is no need to use Pack & Go. Regarding archive methods, we'll gladly accept Zip or WinRar. We've seen Zip mess up double-byte characters in filenames, so if you are using Hebrew or some non-standard ASCII characters, start with WinRar. We can handle the "new" WinZip archive method, but I recommend sticking with the classic type to be safe. -Pete Judge Last edited by pmax : 07-09-2009 at 01:21. |

Re: Submission
Thanks sounds great. Its just when we used pack and go, the file system got all messed up. Our entire robot was placed under workgroups\notinproject. Could anyone explain this?
