While not exactly a complete lesson plan, my dad and I wrote a fairly in-depth page about problems many FLL teams experience several years back. It focuses less on "what part xyz is used for," and more on problems teams encounter that are not obvious at first, and some basic design concepts. It was written before the NXT, so bits of it no longer apply, but most of the ideas it suggests remain valid.
