Re: Smart people on Wheaties boxes
Well the commercials that they have been putting out have been more geared towards kids, and giving them a healthy start to succeed in school. I don't think it is a weight loss product, just one that is under the category of "healthy brain food"

Re: Smart people on Wheaties boxes
Are you talking about mini wheats or smart start. I always viewed smart start as a weight loss aid: healthy, nutritious, and fills you up with less calories.

Re: Smart people on Wheaties boxes
I looked it up online thinking to myself "man, I'd feel really dumb if Smart Start was not a weight loss cereal." Because to be honest I've only seen a couple of their commercials and didn't even pay attention. But weight loss cereals do have there place in FIRST (by the robot scale)

Just throwing this out there, there's plenty of smart athletes and celebrities out there who also promote education and intelligence, never assume for a second that athlete= brainless..
Much of our team is made of varsity athletes |

Re: Smart people on Wheaties boxes
For some reason, I thought that last year that Team 340 (GRR) put together a petition to General Mills to put a FIRST team on the Wheaties box. Every year they try to pick a novel way to put FIRST into the mainstream. One year it was developing a FIRST US postage stamp, one year it was a FIRST related crossword puzzle for the NY Times.
If my memory isn't correct, at least it sounds like somnething they would have done. I always love to hear what new idea they have each year! Last edited by Cynette : 10-09-2009 at 12:11. Reason: Acronym correction! |

One idea that we've tossed around and Upstate NY people might understand better is developing a "Flutie Flakes" type promotion. (For those who don't know, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flutie_Flakes) Something like that is one of the things we're trying this year and might be more realistic then a Wheaties Box. |

Re: Smart people on Wheaties boxes
Extra crunchy? Sure!
I love the idea, but I think it would take quite a bit of work to make it happen...maybe six weeks of work? |
