Go to Post Gracious Professionalism is being embarrassed at an event by an underperforming catstrophe of a robot, yet standing and applauding for every award because you realize that as hard as you worked that season, the other team must have worked even harder to get their achievements. - Taylor [more]

Spare router and/or driver station?

Well, taking a much needed summer break, our team has decided to compete in some off-season games.

However, it appears our wireless N router has went missing when our school cleaned the room some of our parts were in over the summer.

Also, one of our driver station's ethernet ports has completely broken off from the board. It was already loose (but luckily still working) back in March at the NYC regional. >_< Yeah, we tried soldering it back together without any luck.

To make matters even worse, we are pretty much completely out of funds until the 2010 season starts.

So, if anybody is willing to donate a working Driver Station or router, or know of a good workaround that will allow us to update the code on the robot, and that will also work at off-season events, our team would be extremely grateful.

"Any" wifi router can be made to work with the system, you will just need to make the robot's bridge and the new router agree with each other.

Having only one busted ethernet port on the DS puts you in the "lucky" category. Pray you don't break number two, and plug your programming laptop directly into the router. Hopefully they will release the Classmate image so you can turn "any" laptop into a DS.

Re: Spare router and/or driver station?

Ah the flaky ports.

One thing us and team 1771 did was to reinforce the port. We opened up the DS (Yes it does void the warranty) and applied epoxy around the ports. Now the port isn't as wobbly and weak.

and if #2 breaks, you can use the Virtual DS
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=75431
Just set a latop to have an ip of 10.xx.yy.4, and launch the VDS, and plug the laptop in to the router

Re: Spare router and/or driver station?

Good to hear we aren't completely doomed... Yet.

We'll reinforce the remaining ethernet port and get another (cheaper) router from somewhere.

Thanks everyone.
