Help improve the use of safety glasses! PLTW EDD Survey

My partner and I for our Project Lead the Way Engineering Design and Development Class are currently working to improve and increase the use of safety glasses.

In order for us to gain insight on this real world problem, please fill out the survey and either post it on the forum or PM it to me. Thank you!!

1. Does your job or hobby require you to use power tools?

2. Do you wear safety glasses to protect your eyes?

3. What don’t you like about your safety glasses?

4. What things would you change to make your safety glasses both more comfortable and safe?

5. Do you do anything so that you don’t forget to wear your safety glasses?
How well does it work?

Shouldn't this be part of your previous thread on the topic?

Re: Help improve the use of safety glasses! PLTW EDD Survey

1. Sometimes
2. Actually, I wear them as a fashion statement... No really, they are to protect my eyes.
3. Optical quality, I tend to view most of the competition from behind the viewfinder of my camera and wearing safety glasses can seriously interfere with that.
4. Hard plastic stinks for comfort. I have a pair that has a softer material on the tips and they are much more bearable.
5. Never been a problem, 2 pairs live in my camera bag and most of my friends keep a couple pairs in their cars.

Re: Help improve the use of safety glasses! PLTW EDD Survey

1. Does your job or hobby require you to use power tools?
Yes. Both, but my hobbies require it more.

2. Do you wear safety glasses to protect your eyes?
Yes. All the time.

3. What don’t you like about your safety glasses?
The lens get scratched, fogged up, etc. I want to be able to see out of them.

4. What things would you change to make your safety glasses both more comfortable and safe?
I'm OK with the comfort. The ones that hug the face tend to be more comfortable for me, so I tend to go with those.

5. Do you do anything so that you don’t forget to wear your safety glasses? How well does it work?
I keep safety glasses all over the place. Then, when I need a pair, they are easy to find. I leave a pair of shaded ones on the lawnmower. I have a pair or two in my car. I have a few pair on my work bench, one by the lathe, and one pair I clip to the CNC pendent. It works very well for me. (I am more likely to forget to take them off.)

Re: Help improve the use of safety glasses! PLTW EDD Survey

1. Does your job or hobby require you to use power tools?
My job does not require safety glasses, but I like to keep a pair by my side, just in case.

2. Do you wear safety glasses to protect your eyes?
No, I use safety to protect my forehead... (team inside joke)
Seriously, yes, I do use them to protect my eyes.

3. What don’t you like about your safety glasses?
Safety glasses are uncomfortable for me, but it beats having my eyes in another place... O__o

4. What things would you change to make your safety glasses both more comfortable and safe?
There does not seem to be any problems with safety glasses, but I would recommend more protection on the top, bottom, and sides of safety glasses.

5. Do you do anything so that you don’t forget to wear your safety glasses? How well does it work?
I just make it a habit to get safety glasses. It works for me fine.
