[OCCRA]: Update #6 from Teri Kroll

Good Morning Everyone -

Our competition this Thursday, October 29th is at Birmingham Seaholm High School, 2436 W. Lincoln Road, Birmingham. With the majority of the teams being inspected at the last competition, it should go faster and we should be able to start matches around 6:30 p.m. I am planning on arriving with the trailer by 4:00 p.m., so if you are part of the set-up crew we need you there then. Here is a “tentative” timeframe of the event – Hopefully the drivers meeting can start at 6:10, the opening remarks at 6:20 with the National Anthem right after, matches starting at 6:30, awards at 8:30 and everything packed up and ready to go by 9:30.

Remember -- if you are running late you need to call me on my cell phone 248.346.7094. We cannot change the match lists after 6:00 p.m.

Updates/Reminders -
  • The VEX field will have 2 inch white duct tape for the lines rather than 1 1/2 inch wide that was used at the Walled Lake Tournament
  • If you have turned in your signed 2009 OCCRA Safety, Fairness and Disclaimer Affidavit, bring it to the competition with you
See you on Thursday night.

Terri

P.S. Remember to keep recruiting female/male students, teachers, administrators, parents, etc. for the Diversity Showcase Tournament on Saturday, November 7th at Royal Oak High School. If you know you won't be able to attend the tournament or will only be competing in one portion of it, please let me know. Here is a tentative schedule for the day –
  • Set-up crew teams should arrive at Royal Oak HS at 7:00 a.m. (Having the tarps already put down for the playing field has seemed to speed this process up tremendously. Thank you host teams for doing this.)
  • Inspection will begin at 8:00 a.m.
  • Drivers Meeting at 9:00 a.m.
  • Welcome and National Anthem at 9:15 a.m.
  • All-Female Matches begin at 9:30 a.m.
  • Adult Matches at 11:00 a.m. (remember these to not count in the scoring for the day)
  • Lunch at 11:40 a.m.
  • All-Male Matches begin at 12:30 p.m.
  • Awards Ceremony starts at 1:45 p.m.
  • Tear Down and Trailer Loading at 2:15 p.m.
  • Hopefully everything will run smoothly and we can all be on our way home by 3:00 p.m.
